1.Who runs Ashish Ka Quiz

Ashish Ka Quiz (AKQ) is a free Hindi general-knowledge quiz competition. It is operated by Ashish Gupta, an individual based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. AKQ is not a registered company.

AKQ is available as a website at ashishkaquiz.com and as an Android application, package name com.ashishkaquiz.app. This policy covers both.

For any question, correction or complaint about your personal data, the person responsible is:

2.What we collect

AKQ is deliberately built to collect as little as possible. To play, you give us two things:

• Your name — exactly as you type it at registration. It appears on the public leaderboard.
• Your mobile number — used to identify your entry and to contact you if you win.

While you play, the following is created and stored:

• An anonymous account identifier issued by Google Firebase Authentication.
• Your answers, score, progress and timestamps for the season you are playing.
• A resume code, so you can continue a saved game on another device.

Stored on your own device only, in your browser or app storage: your mobile number and your resume code, so the app can resume your game automatically. This stays on your device. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app removes it.

For prize winners only, additionally:

• Verification result — whether verification succeeded, and the date.
• Your city, profession and photograph — only if you separately and explicitly agree during the verification call. This is optional. You can win without agreeing to it.

3.What we do not collect

AKQ does not ask for permission to access your location or your contacts, and does not use your personal data for advertising. There is no advertising software in the app and no advertising or tracking pixel on the website.

AKQ does not store card numbers or bank account details, in the app or in its database. Entry is always free. Prize amounts are sent manually by UPI after verification.

Government photo ID is shown during the winner verification video call. It is never photographed, copied, uploaded or stored, and its number is not recorded. Only "verified yes or no" and the date are kept. Verification calls are not recorded.

4.Why we collect it

• To run the competition and save your progress.
• To prevent one person entering the same season more than once.
• To show the public leaderboard.
• To contact you if you are a winner, and to verify that the winner is a real person.
• To issue participation certificates.
• To keep the competition secure and fair.

Publishing a winner's city, profession or photograph is not needed to run the competition. It happens only for announcements, and only with separate consent.

5.Who else handles your data

AKQ does not sell your personal data, and does not share it for advertising or marketing.

Some service providers necessarily process data on our behalf so the service can work:

• Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Functions) — stores entries, issues anonymous account identifiers and validates answers. Firebase receives technical information such as your IP address and browser user-agent, which Google uses for security and abuse prevention.
• Netlify — hosts the website.
• Telephone and messaging services — used to contact winners and conduct verification calls.
• Banking and UPI services — used to send prize amounts to winners.

Personal data may also be disclosed if required by law.

6.How long we keep it

• Competition entries (name, mobile number, score, answers) — kept for as long as needed to run the competition and to keep past-season leaderboards and the Hall of Fame complete. You can ask for deletion at any time.
• Verification result — kept with the winner's entry as a record that the prize was properly awarded.
• Winner city, profession and photograph — kept while displayed. Removed from future display if you withdraw consent.
• Data on your own device — until you clear your browser data or uninstall the app.
• Technical logs held by Google Firebase — retained according to Google's own retention periods, which AKQ does not control.

What gets deleted

• Your name
• Your mobile number
• Your anonymous account identifier, and the Firebase Authentication account itself
• Your resume code
• The entry record stored under an identifier derived from your mobile number
• Your verification record, if you were a winner
• Your published city, profession and photograph, if any

What may remain

An anonymous record of a score and rank for a past season, shown under the generic label खिलाड़ी ("player"), so that past leaderboards stay complete. This record does not carry your name, your number or your account identifier.

8.Your other choices

Write to ashishkaquiz@gmail.com to:

• ask what personal data we hold about you
• correct your name or mobile number
• withdraw consent to your city, profession or photograph being displayed
• raise a complaint about how your data has been handled

AKQ handles personal data with reference to applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, as its provisions come into force.

9.Security

Data travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. Entries are held in Google Firebase with access rules restricting what can be read or written, and administrative access is limited to the operator. No government ID documents are stored at any point.

No system is perfectly secure, and AKQ does not claim otherwise.

10.Age

AKQ is intended for people aged 18 years or older. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has registered, write to us and we will delete the record.

11.Changes to this policy

The effective date at the top of this page will be updated whenever this policy changes. Where a change materially affects how personal data is handled, a notice will be published on ashishkaquiz.com.
